It’s typical for a yoga enthusiast to squeeze in a session here and there; whenever a busy schedule mercifully permits. The result is often somewhat unsatisfactory and leaves you wanting more. One hour practices a couple times a week won’t allow for optimum relaxation when you’re running straight back to the rat race. The solution – a yoga retreat!

This will give your body the chance to soak in the revitalizing effects of yoga and get the opportunity to really delve into your soul, cleanse your mind and awaken energy that lies within.

Stein Eriksen Lodge is Utah’s only Forbes Five-Star Hotel and Spa, located mid-mountain at Deer Valley Resort, minutes from Park City, and 45 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Aiirport.

Chakra Balancing with doTERRA Essential Oils

A great way to improve your health and well being is through chakra balancing. The use of essential oils is one way to achieve this balance. We use Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade doTERRA Essential Oils and like to think of it as taking vitamins for your chakras. They give your body a boost and help blocked or unbalanced chakras heal. Anyone can learn how to do this centuries old technique.

What are chakras? Chakras are centers of energy located all over our body. We have seven major chakras located along our spine to the crown of the head. They are responsible for directing the flow of energy through our bodies. Our chakras may either be open or closed, depending on our mental, physical, and spiritual state at any given time.

Every feeling and all of our senses are integrated with a different chakra. Each chakra is linked to a different part of the endocrine system. When we experience stress or other environmental factors, the chakras can become blocked making our bodies natural energies work too hard. Blocked chakras can manifest in physical, emotional, or spiritual issues. Keeping the chakras open and balanced keeps our energies flowing correctly and can help keep us healthy.

Our Chakra Balancing Kit includes:

Muscle Soreness and Recovery

I am very proud that since January of this year I am a CrossFitter. This has drastically changed me physically and mentally. As with any form of change, this does not happen without a little bit of struggle and discomfort. Specifically today I would like to address the physical discomfort. There are many times with any challenging fitness, CrossFit, yoga or otherwise, our muscles must change and that requires our muscles to be sore and demand them to rebuild themselves. With this, I many times get the question of how do I use oils to manage physical soreness.

Many, I am sure, pop a couple of Aleve, or something likewise. If you would ask my husband, he would be the first to tell you that this is not me. I very, very rarely turn to Tylenol, Advil or Aleve to help manage my “pain”. I really haven’t ever used pills like this, and since discovering doTERRA essential oils I am so happy that I can now assist my muscles in the recovery process naturally, with the added benefit of reducing the uncomfortableness of pushing myself. Now on to what has worked for me…

Deep Blue Rub. This doTERRA product is fantastic. I can not tell you enough how much I love the rub and the oil. The most effect and immediate relief for me is to rub just a little (you don’t need much!) on the effected area and jump in the shower! Water intensifies the oils, sometimes this is may be to a disadvantage, but I am using to my advantage here!! Immediately I am feel less stiff and able to increase my range of motion or activity. This has the same effect if you put the oil on as you are sweating or know you are about to put yourself through a sweat fest… Everyone LOVES some good hot yoga!!!

Peppermint. This is one of my absolute favorite oils and I use either on myself, my husband or my kids every day. For these purposes however, it is a great oil to drop on the muscle area real quick. I like to use this option especially first thing in the morning. The peppermint is great to lift your energy and gets me up and going.

Lemongrass. My wonderful friend Lisa taught me this one. While on a weekend visit with her, I had over done it with my back. I also had spent about 30 hours (not exaggerating here. Seriously 30 hours) in the car in a short span of time. She suggested that I apply some lemongrass to my back as this oil is an anti-inflammatory along with helping in repairing ligaments and other tissue repair. I woke up the next morning feeling like a champ! And then jumped back in the car for another 6 hours. But I was at least not feeling stiff and cramped up following that trip!

Wintergreen. Although you may smell like a piece of gum or tube of toothpaste using this one, it is fantastic! This is another oil I turn to when I know I have totally gone beyond where I should have. Wintergreen is another anti-inflammatory oil and warms the area of application nicely. This is also a great oil for joint pain and muscle development. I have used wintergreen on my quad muscles which included my hips and knees. I will place a warning on this one, simply from my experience. Not a grand idea to put on and then head out to hot yoga. I knew better. Really I did. But me wanting relief trumped my knowledge that I told you about earlier… Yes, even sweat intensifies the oils. Oops! But hey! The yoga class may have gotten a little benefit as I walked in! Sometimes those hot yoga bodies can get a little skunky!!

There are so many more ideas out there! Share them in the comments box if you would like! In my studying I have come across some oils to help with muscle toning (Birch)! Will be trying that one out for sure!! I will let you know what I find!
